Managing Disruptions in a Flow-Shop Manufacturing System

چکیده

There is a manufacturing system where several parts are processed through machining workstations and later assembled to form final products. In the event of disruptions such as machine failure, original flow-shop schedule needs be revised and/or rescheduled. scenario, rescheduling methods based on right-shift affected operations work very well. Here in this study, deviation make-span from used performance measure. We have proposed three methods. multiple factors that influence methodology. One them schedule, influencing it optimality initial solution, failure duration, make-span, method, size, instant failure. The problem size depend for which scheduling performed, but method depends decision methodology selected. Computations performed using full factorial experimentation. also observed preferred majority situations. contrast, operation equally suitable when solution created modified bottleneck minimum idleness.

Flow Manufacturing in a Job Shop? --- Oh Yes

Introduction In a world that is rapidly moving towards faster, higher quality production of products, the focus has been on manufacturers that produce products in a repetitive or process mode of operation. The good news is that progress has been tremendous in those companies. The bad news is that in the job shops of the world, it is virtually business as usual. Manufacturing in the United State...

The Preemptive Just-in-time Scheduling Problem in a Flow Shop Scheduling System

Flow shop scheduling problem has a wide application in the manufacturing and has attracted much attention in academic fields. From other point, on time delivery of products and services is a major necessity of companies’ todays; early and tardy delivery times will result additional cost such as holding or penalty costs.  In this paper, just-in-time (JIT) flow shop scheduling problem with preemp...

Managing Supply Chain Disruptions

Given the substantive negative financial, marketing, and operationsrelated consequences of supply chain disruptions, it is not surprising that most organizations are expending significant efforts to develop effective disruption management strategies. Further, the focus on lowcost (and lean) supply chains to control costs has also resulted in magnifying the impact of even a small disruption at a...

A Scheduling Heuristic for Job Shop Manufacturing System

In the past, many production-scheduling methods were developed to achieve high due-date and short manufacturing lead times performance. Among them, DRUMBUFFER-ROPE (DBR) has been recognized as one of the excellent solutions. However, there are some implementation constraints (e.g., time buffer determination, setup ratio evaluation, non-CCR subordination etc.) limit its implementation performanc...

Reducing Manufacturing Flow Times: Job Shop Simulation and Reconfiguration

Smaller production companies, such as job shops, are often incapable of committing significant human or capital resources for the improvement of manufacturing flow times. However, there is considerable demand in these organizations for solutions that offer improvements without the risk involved in expending these resources. This paper investigates the impact of scheduling rules and reorganizati...
